Lesquendieu is a luxurious French perfume house whose fragrances and scented candles are hand-crafted in the best tradition of classical perfumery in Grasse, using exquisite and rare essences mainly of natural origin.
Free of time and budget restrictions, the in-house perfumer of Lesquendieu passionately creates unique olfactive compositions, which are then presented in hand-blown perfume bottles with a cap finished in pure gold.
Today I’ll review Lesquendieu le Parfum, a delightful and intriguing leathery-ambery fragrance, and tell you more about this perfume house.
The origins of the perfume house Lesquendieu
The history of this perfume house began in the 1900s, when Joseph Lesquendieu, an innovative French pharmacist and perfumer, established his perfume and cosmetics company J.Lesquendieu in Paris.
For over seven decades, J. Lesquendieu has created refined fragrances that were well-known throughout the world, focusing on creativity and using the best perfume ingredients.
After the death of Joseph Lesquendieu in 1962, the company continued to produce perfumes for a while longer, but the absence of the founder’s involvement into the creative process has led to the cessation of production.
The perfume house had been in a state of hibernation from the early eighties to contemporary times, until in 2015, the revival of the company was initiated by one of the founder’s grandsons.
As passionate about the pursuit of excellence as his grandfather, Jerome Lesquendieu combines traditional methods, freedom of creativity, and the usage of the finest ingredients to create modern perfumes that reflect the sophistication of the past.
Lesquendieu Le Parfum Review
Lesquendieu le Parfum is a beautiful olfactive story in which a note of birch tar acts as a protagonist, manifesting itself in all its glory and complexity.
Blended with bergamot and tea, the note of birch tar realistically recreates the scent of strong black tea that greets and envelops you from the opening of this perfume.
The scent that immediately creates the atmosphere of comfort and coziness, and invites you into an equally fascinating heart, now revealing the leathery facets of birch tar.
Labdanum, with its multifaceted scent, combining ambery, leathery, and smoky nuances, helps to fully express the rich character of this perfume.
The notes of tonka bean and vanilla, for their part, bring a profound sweetness to Lesquendieu le Parfum and make it sound endlessly enticing.
It should be noted, that this perfume also includes a note of jasmine, which, however, doesn’t stand out, but which certainly adds some exquisite floral accents.
Lesquendieu le Parfum is an elegant and just charming fragrance that combines coziness with refinement, softness with expressiveness, and which is filled with timeless beauty and harmony that will never go out of style.
Notes: Bergamot, Tea, Birch, Jasmine, Tonka Bean, Labdanum, Amber, Cedarwood, Vanilla.
