Not a perfume is a fragrance by French niche perfume brand Juliette has a Gun launched in 2010. The name of this fragrance speaks for itself. Not a perfume consists of only one ingredient – molecule Cetalox.
Some people adore this scent, other people hate it. There are also people who don’t feel the scent of this perfume at all.
Today I’ll review Not a Perfume Juliette has a Gun and tell you about this mysterious molecule.
What is Cetalox?
Cetalox is a base note of many modern fragrances (or the only note, as in the case with Not a Perfume). It is a synthetic form of natural ambergris, as well as Ambroxan and some other molecules.
These molecules are very long lasting. They have deep woody and a little sweet scent with animalic nuances.
On different people, these molecules act in different ways. That is why some people don’t feel anything at all, and some people feel unique and beautiful scent, that is changed during the day.
Natural Ambergris or grey Amber is a substance produced in the digestive system of cachalots. It was one of the most popular components in perfumes of the past because of its deep and balsamic scent.
Nowadays, using natural Ambergris is prohibited because the cachalots which produce this substance are endangered species. It is also more ethical to use the synthetic substitutes of Ambergris.

Review of Not a Perfume Juliette has a Gun
From the first seconds, Not a Perfume has a little harsh and strange scent with a slight sour note. It reminds me of the scent of cleanness, like washing powder or soap.
After a while, the bright opening calms down and some tender and deep scent with musky nuances appears. This scent is very close to the skin, sometimes invisible, but then suddenly very bright.
After some time, Not a perfume becomes to remind me Dior Homme Cologne 2013 and in this form, this fragrance disappears from my skin.
If you like Escentric Molecules fragrances, especially Molecule 02, you probably will like Not a Perfume by Juliette has a Gun.
Nevertheless, you need to test this perfume for a certain time before purchasing. The scent of this fragrance can change itself during the day. I can’t say that it is not a perfume. On my skin, it is very light, gentle and clean fragrance, sheer like water.
If it were a place, it would be a pier.
If it were a color, it would light gray.
If it were one word, it would be invisible.
