Zoologist Perfumes is a Canadian niche brand, that was founded by Victor Wang in 2013. Since that time Zoologist creates unique, deep and sometimes strange scents inspired by animals and their habits. You will be in love with them, or they will shock you, but they will never leave you indifferent.
Today I’ll review Moth Zoologist Perfumes, the new perfume launched in 2018 and created by Tomoo Inaba.
When the Sun goes down, there comes a time for darkness
It is the time of mystic, magic and secret desires. The night has its own unique charm. It is attractive and even magnetic. The night and the darkness reveal their secrets to those, who are ready to accept and to understand them.
With coming of light, all night magic is gone. All secrets are closed in an old dusty closet, waiting for the next night.
Moth Zoologist is the darkness and mystic at its best. The name of this perfume reflects its essence.
A little moth appears with the darkness. It inspires fear to someone, despite its harmlessness. A little moth and the magic have one enemy – the light. The attraction of the light and the flame is so dangerous for the moth, and mostly fatal.

But back to the start, when the night just comes
The new Zoologist perfume begins with a bright, strong and heady mixture of spices. Black pepper and clove, sweetness and bitterness of cinnamon and saffron, sour and fresh lemon and nutmeg.
After a while, this sharp scent becomes softer and calmer. The floral bouquet in the heart reveals itself and makes this scent more tender and powdery.
The base of Moth perfume is rich in notes. Honey makes this fragrance a little sweet and viscous, while the notes of guaiac wood and oud give the deep woody and smoky scent. Ambergris and musk make this fragrance sensual and even carnal.
Moth Zoologist has so many faces
The pyramid of this perfume will confuse you. It gives you a sense of something dark, mystery and even occult.
It is like a spiritual seance of the round table with a dark velvet tablecloth. It is like an old dusty mystic book with leather bounds.
This fragrance has something fatal, and this is not surprising if we remember the story with the little moth. It has some burned notes, and this scent is so strange and a bit scary at the beginning.
It is like a conductor to another world, and it reminds me a story of Faust and Mephistopheles.

But after a while, Moth becomes very close to the skin and very deep. It brings thoughtfulness and calmness. In the head appears a question whether all that happens is accidentally or not?
Anyway, I hope that my little Moth has overcome the temptation to the light.
Moth Zoologist is the intense and long-lasting perfume that has a concentration of Extrait de Parfum. This fragrance is perfect for cold days. It will warm and envelop you. The main accent is spicy-woody-smoky.

P.S. Sometimes we are afraid of something, that we don’t understand. The same thing with night and darkness. But if we only try to understand and to get to know it better… What scares you at the beginning becomes closer to you.
